Through Ryerson, she also gained a Certificate in Photographic Studies. It added to her completed courses in photojournalism at Sheridan College, portraiture at Humber College and digital communications at Centennial College.
In 1984, Sydney received a Graduate Management Diploma from the Centre for Continuing Education at McGill University. A decade earlier, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Mount Holyoke College, following a redirection from pre-medicine at Northwestern University.
A dual citizen of Canada and Venezuela, Sydney was born in Toronto and grew up in Caracas. She has lived in several cities in the United States and in Canada before moving to London, Ontario in 2008. Well travelled in the Americas and in Europe, she dominates the English and Spanish languages, while navigating the waters in French and German.
