About:
Influences and Inspirations
Sciences, the arts, and a cultural mix prevailed on the home front
in Caracas, Venezuela, where from the age of ten I wielded a Kodak
Brownie. Over the next two decades, my interest in photography grew
through hand-me-down cameras from my Dad, inspiration from the hobbies
of two uncles, a workshop, plus darkroom experiences.
A move from the U.S. to Canada created other challenges. Nearly
twenty years later, I reignited my passion when I needed product
shots. I began to explore digital aspects, followed up by - then
for therapeutic reasons - professional training, certification,
and ongoing education in the still photographic arts (Ryerson University,
and Centennial, Humber and Sheridan Colleges). In the process, I
was inspired by the Masters, among them, Paul Strand, Eugene W.
Smith, and Sebastião Salgado.
Today, from a non-traditional studio, I bring to my work the sum
of my experiences and training, plus emotional and aesthetic levels,
to record essences. For portraits, I enjoy establishing communications
to capture subjects at ease for posterity. For weddings and events,
I (and an associate, where required) unobtrusively capture decisive
moments as they unfold. These provide the artful story of treasured
memories for your viewing pleasure .. time and again. I look forward
to discussing with you the possibilities. Until then, thanks for
visiting!
